Home Accents Holiday Skeleton

Want to hear something spooky?

Even though it's only the first week of October, the coveted Home Accents 12-foot skeleton decoration is completely sold out at The Home Depot, despite the $299 price tag for the original skeleton and $349 for the new Inferno Pumpkin Skeleton that debuted this year.

For those who have the Home Depot pages bookmarked and are checking the product pages of the skeletons religiously, you will be happy to see that while they are still not in stock to purchase online, the page did go live again on Oct. 12, bringing some hope to those who want to get their hands on the 12-foot decorations.

The Post called around to several stores, only to be met with the same sold-out story, as did the folks at Insider, who called 10 stores and were met with the same sad news.

We do know where two of the giant graveyard friends ended up, however, and if you decide to go trick-or-treating at Kourtney Kardashian's home, you'll see them for yourself. Somehow she got her hands on a pair of the spooky siblings, showing off her find in an Instagram post.

While many thought that July was too early to plan for Halloween, Home Depot knew better, announcing the July 16 launch date on their site to the delight of early shoppers — and the horror of last-minute decorators.

"To secure your 12-foot skeleton and anything else you need for Halloween, visit HomeDepot.com beginning July 16 while supplies last. Or, visit your local Home Depot store this September when Halloween products arrive in our aisles," read a Home Depot's press release over the summer.

Don't panic just yet, though, as we have a trick to getting your hands on this 12-foot treat that doesn't require celebrity status or staking out your local hardware store.

While the Home Depot skeleton friends are sold out, there are dupes you can find at other retailers and even some of the original Home Accent brand skeletons now posted on resale sites like eBay and Amazon.

The original skeletons may cost an arm and a leg, should you choose to go that route, but read on for some hopefully more affordable options, too, which are sure to put you in the spooky spirit. (Keep in mind that prices may fluctuate.)

Home Accents 12 ft. Giant-Sized Skeleton with LifeEyes, $884

Money comes and goes, but skeletons are forever.

If this is your mindset and you want the original Home Accents 12-foot skeleton, here you go. We found this one on Amazon, now $944 with an extra $299 delivery fee to be sure it arrives before Halloween. Since it is the OG skeleton, it comes with the LED life-eyes that stare into your soul, as well as a stand to keep it in place in your yard.

For more buying options, or if the Amazon skeleton sells out, too, there are also a plethora of options now on eBay, ranging in price and buying options.

New for this season is the above skeleton's fiery best friend, the Inferno Pumpkin Skeleton. Also from the coveted Home Accents brand, the 12-foot skeleton decoration is equipped with the LED LifeEyes, but housed inside his pumpkin head with a glowing grin.

Seasonal Visions International 8ft Towering Skeleton, $299.99

Best Buy

If you can sacrifice just a few feet, this skeleton dupe is the next best thing.

We found the 8-foot skeleton at Best Buy, and for a similar price as the original one at just $299.99 with free shipping included. This one may be lacking in height, but it still has glowing blue LED eyes and posable limbs, towering at least a few feet above most trick-or-treaters and their parents, too.

Home Accents 8 ft Giant Dark Angel with LED Lights and Motion Sensing Technology, $279 (limit two per order)

We don't know why the skeletons got all the hype when this giant, dark angel is just as spooky.

From the same brand as the skeletons, the Giant Dark Angel is just a few feet shorter, at eight instead of 12. He does however come with super lifelike motion sensors, turning its head and flapping its wings when some unsuspecting kids come knocking for candy and leave with a fright.

Way to Celebrate Realistic Posable Titan Skeleton, 84 inch, $79

Walmart

Celebrate Halloween the only way you know how — with larger-than-like decorations in your yard and home.

This skeleton from Walmart measures 84 inches — or 7 feet — high, which puts it not too far behind the other giant decorations on this list. The best part is that it is a fraction of the cost, sold for $79 on the Walmart website. The joints on his many bones lock into place, all the better to scare you with when set up in an unsuspecting corner or left hanging near the candy bowl.

Pose n' Stay Skeleton, $92.99

He can sit and stay, but we're unsure whether this skeleton knows how to roll over or not.

This skeleton decor is a bit smaller than the rest, coming in at 5-foot-2, which is at least life-sized for most of your trick-or-treating visitors on Halloween. The posable skeleton is found on Wayfair's site, now on sale for $93, making it one of the more affordable giant decorations on this list.
